About Me

Professional

I have spent the majority of the past 16 years as a word processor for engineers, researchers, and attorneys. This mainly involved editing, proofreading, and formatting reports, proposals, and legal documents. During this time, I also had a three-year stint in an accounting department at an insurance firm where I acquired a great deal of spreadsheet expertise.

The past three years were spent in the document production department at a large law firm in downtown Boston, where all members were required to have intermediate to expert knowledge of a wide variety of software, including (but not limited to): Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and Visio. In addition to knowing how to use these programs, we also needed to know how to troubleshoot the majority of issues that arose with them, as we were often the first line of tech support.

I have worked with a variety of programs over the years and have experience with many different types of projects. My aim is to provide quality services to both businesses and individuals. To see the services I can provide, please go to the services page.

Personal

I am an avid gamer, I love to read sci-fi and fantasy, and I have a half-Siamese cat who thinks my mouse is the best thing to sit on. I’m a self-proclaimed geek and nerd. (I even have a favorite function in Excel - vlookup!) I’m self-taught on many things, which is a result of being the type of person to go poking through program menus to see all the features available to me. I tend to be that one person in the office that people go to with questions before calling the IT department. I very much enjoy being a problem solver!

I also strongly dislike using buzzwords and such. You will never hear things like “leveraging our synergies so we can shift paradigms and improve our outcome-based solutions” from me. I also know not everyone is a “tech person,” so if I’ve used a term you are unfamiliar with, please let me know and I will be happy to explain it to you. I talk the same way this site is written.

I recently decided to change career paths and see if I can make a living off working for myself and while delevoping the skills to do something I truly enjoy - programming. To that end, I’ve been studying JavaScript and Java. I’m already somewhat familiar with web design, PHP, and MySQL.
